Unnatural Flavors?
Does anyone know what natural flavors even are? And can they truly be called natural? This term has become so misleading, as technically anything that exists on earth and can be observed with the eye could be called natural. Since natural flavors are engineered in labs or consist of substances that no reasonable mind would naturally want to ingest if the true source of the flavoring were revealed, we must immediately prohibit food manufacturers from using the term "natural flavors". Instead, ingredients must be called by their true names. So if the "natural vanilla flavoring" being used is actually derived from beaver's anal secretions (sounds horrible but it's really a thing), consumers deserve to know so they can make informed decisions when purchasing food. Perhaps if corporations could feel the loss in profits--the only thing that seems to motivate them--this would move them to make some changes in labeling or even better, changes in their recipes.
There are even more ominous sources for so-called "natural flavors" that I'll talk more about in future blog posts, so stay tuned.
